Toussiant L'Ouverture

Although L'Ouverture was born as a slave he overcame all and helped his fellow slaves to freedom and his country. He freed the nation Haiti. In 1791 he had the slaves all revolt against their owners. He wanted the rebuild the country, agriculture, expand trade, and create a constitution the would be fair to all the countrymen. In 1802 Napoleon came to end the revolt. Instead he signed at truce with L'Ouverture. Napoleon accused L'Ovuerture of creating another rebellion and sent him to prison in France. In 1820 Haiti was finally consdiered a republic and no longer had slavery. Sadly L'Ovuerture was not there because he died in the prison in France.
